Packaging Engineer
SUMMARY OF PACKAGING ENGINEER:
Position will support general packaging development activities from June to December 2019, which include innovation, cost savings, quality improvements and development of packaging specifications.


REQUIREMENTS OF PACKAGING ENGINEER:
• Bachelor's Degree in Packaging Engineering, or technical field such as Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, or Physical Science.
• At least 2 years of packaging experience, and/or business experience with packaging materials and process.
• Excellent written, communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to leverage system knowledge to organize and streamline different types of technical documentation business processes for enhanced efficiency.
• Proficient at independent planning and prioritization.
• Strong computer skills including fluency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel), and database management. Optiva or other PLM system experience preferred.
• Detail oriented with the ability to multitask.


RESPONSIBILITIES OF PACKAGING ENGINEER:
• Working cross functionally as well as with external vendors and manufacturing facilities.
• Managing and executing multiple packaging projects while developing a working knowledge of technologies. This is inclusive of leading projects related to sustaining base business, innovation, cost savings and continuous quality improvements.
• Proficiency in all systems used for Packaging Documentation: Developing packaging component drawings and specifications, packaging BOM's, finished packaging specifications and distribution specifications. Additionally, writing all Packaging Commercialization Documents used for testing and qualifying all packaging components at manufacturing facilities.
• Understanding the relationship between the package, product and process to effectively develop packaging solutions that sell and protect the product, while maintaining an efficient, cost-effective process cycle.
• Documenting projects for effective hand-off at the end of the assignment.
• Develop packaging for new products
• Drive cost savings opportunities
• Provide critical thinking and new proposition development for packaging
• Provide technical packaging leadership for cross functional team
• Drive alignment with key project stakeholders on packaging development direction


SCHEDULE & PAY RATE FOR PACKAGING ENGINEER:
• $55.00 / hour
• Monday - Friday
